Prior to signing with Big Hit Entertainment J-Hope was a JYP trainee. He and B.A.P's Youngjae auditioned together for their JYP audition.
J-Hope officially started as a member of the South Korean boy group BTS on June 13, 2013 with the title song 'No More Dream' under the label Big Hit Entertainment . In 2010, he was spotted by Big Hit Entertainment at a major national casting, after making his name in South Korea by taking back songs and choreographies posted on the Internet. He signed a few months later for his first contract. He was in training for three years with members Jungkook and Jimin, And was also the first trainee of the Bangtan Boys, with his co-star Rap Monster.
In 2015 J-Hope released his first solo song titled "1 Verse" on Soundcloud. To date it's the only song J-Hope has done solo although he has done several covers and duets with his band members.
