Jaehyun was born in Seoul, South Korea with the name Jung Yoon-oh (정재현). Due to his fair skin, his nickname was Casper.

He spent his early years in the United States for about 4 years, but thought it was boring. Nonetheless, because of this experience, he is fluent in Korean and English.

Jaehyun is very sensitive, but strong. He tries to to make everyone happy, an optimistic personality he earned in his childhood.

Ever since he was young, he wanted to live a free life. He thinks that without freedom his life is valueless.

Academic wise, he was a clever boy. However, he disliked to be attentive in class, and wanted to just play, preferably basketball, with his friends.

Jaehyun was cast into SM Entertainment in 2012, discovered by street scouts in front of his school. On December 9, 2013, he was introduced as a member of the pre-debut trainee team SMROOKIES. In 2014, he participated with other fellow NCT members on the show Exo 90:2014, where they performed songs from the 90s.

After becoming a rookie with SM Entertainment he decided to change his name to Jung Yoon Ho for unknown reasons.

In April 2016, Jaehyun officially debuted as a member of NCT, in the first sub-unit NCT U, with the singles "The 7th Sense" and "Without You". On July 10, he debuted as a member of the second sub-unit, NCT 127, with their first EP, NCT#127.

In March 2017, Jaehyun joined the radio show NCT Night Night as a DJ along with member Johnny.

On September 4, 2020, It was confirmed that Jaehyun will make his acting debut in the upcoming KBS2 drama Dear. M, which is to be released in 2021, with the role of Cha Min-ho, a second year student in the Computer Science Department at Seoyeon University.
