Jin was recruited by a casting agent from Big Hit Entertainment on the street when he was in university.
Prior to Big Hit Entertainment he was also scouted by S.M Entertainment when he was in 8th grade but chose to stay with his schooling a little longer.
On June 13, 2013 he officially began his career as singer and visual artist of the South Korean boy band 방탄소년단, more commonly called BTS. Jin is the oldest of the group and is often compared to the group's mother as he cooks, nurtures and cares for other members as a mother would.
He graduated from the University of Konkuk in Seoul on February 22, 2017 where he studied art and acting in the Department of Film.
